Hi, I'm Coach Chanty! I'm a Certified Life Coach for Kids & Teens.
I am a very proud aunty of 6 incredible nieces and nephews and the godmother of 2 amazing goddaughters. Those that know me well, would say that I have always had a strong love for mentorship with children and youth, as well as helping people in general. My friends and family have often told me how natural I am with kids and coaching.
My mission at Chanty's Confidence Club is to help kids & teens develop the mental skills needed to help them navigate the ups & downs of growing up. The critical mental tools to support themselves when life throws them curveballs.
I am extremely motivated to help our youth strengthen their mental health in a preventative way. Millions of kids are deeply struggling mentally and emotionally, especially following the Covid 19 pandemic. It is my mission to help as many children as I can, and their families, with strengthening their mental wellness through mindset development.
Life is very challenging and I want to help parents as part of a support group for their child. Parents have so much on their plates and many parents are also struggling with their own mental health.
Learning the essential mindset skills needed to navigate life should be learned as a child, as a preventative measure to hopefully help avoid more serious issues in the future.
Kids should be prepared for whatever life brings, and having strong mental health will support them in everything they do.
Now more than ever, kids are growing up in very challenging times, especially with social media, and as a result, there's a mental health crisis happening. Many more resources are needed to support our youth.
This is why I am here. I have never felt more confident in my life's purpose than I do right now.
They say when you start a business, it usually is focused on something you wish you had access to personally. I grew up with divorcing parents and I also experienced being bullied in elementary school through to high school. I've even experienced being bullied as an adult. All of these experiences influenced my mental health tremendously, and how I felt about myself. I would have greatly benefitted from learning the critical mental tools needed to support myself, when I was young to help me navigate life.
Some of these skills include knowing how to develop strong self-esteem and self-confidence, how to manage peer pressure, how to overcome bullying without internalizing and having negative self-talk, how to overcome self-doubt, fear and failure without getting down on myself, how to calm myself down when I felt severe emotional pain, anger or anxiety, how to manage the thoughts in my head and program my belief system to support myself rather than hurt myself, how to avoid comparing myself to others and honouring my true self and personal journey, and importantly - I learned how to pick myself up in difficult times.
Only in my 30’s did I start working on myself and my mindset, learning and developing the key life tools I needed.
I've never understood why personal development is only catered towards adults, yet we develop our core belief system and what we believe is possible for our lives, as young as 5 years old.
I’ve often wondered why our school systems teach our kids math and science, but they do not teach kids the most important mental life tools needed - the skills to navigate the ups and downs of growing up.
Elementary school, Middle school and high school can be the most emotionally difficult, socially challenging and scariest years in a person’s life. These years also help shape who we are for the rest of our lives, and our beliefs.
Our brain is still developing up until the age of 25, so without the proper mental skills & tools to support themselves, kids and teens can 'lose their way', or ‘act out’ or ‘cause trouble’ simply just because they do not have the proper tools and skills to support themselves.
For example:
-Emotional regulation,
-Tools to help them stand up to peer pressure,
-Resilience,
-A supportive believe system
-Power shifting their mindset to help them navigate situations and relationships to support themselves, rather than hurting themselves,
-Tools to help avoid comparison to others
-Goal setting
Kids can put themselves in harmful and even life-threatening situations.
This can include:
-Turning to using substances or,
-Leveraging external factors for approval,
-Causing violence to others or themselves due to not understanding their emotions or having the proper tools to regulate these emotions, or how to think in a supportive way for themselves.
Every person deserves to learn the critical mental tools to support themselves in this crazy thing we call life! It all starts with mindset, and should be learned as a child.
So how did I get here?
A little background on my professional journey: I spent the first 15 years of my career in the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industry at Global organizations – Molson Coors Canada, Conagra Brands, and Red Bull Canada. I successfully executed many cross-functional roles such as Customer and Shopper Marketing, Sales, e-commerce, Merchandise Buying and Procurement, Operations, and Event Planning & Execution. Both personally and professionally, I am very dedicated to giving back through Philanthropy & working with nonprofit organizations including SickKids, Covenant House, Plan International Canada, CAMH, Toonies4Tummies & United Way. While working with these organizations, I decided I wanted to use my diverse skill set and experience to make a positive impact in the world through my career full-time.
In 2022, I transitioned my career into the nonprofit sector to support raising funds full-time for important global projects, supporting children's rights and equality for girls. During my short time in the nonprofit sector, I realized how much I wanted to work directly with kids and youth, having the opportunity to see the positive impact I am making in their lives.
I completed a course on psychology and once completed, I then started my certification to become a Life Coach for kids & youth through the Adventures in Wisdom certification program. They have over 4000 incredible coaches in North America. The process and system are proven and has helped thousands of children.
I should also note a VERY important part of my life is my little fur baby named Sadie. She is 6 years old and she is my world❤️
I love spending time with friends and family, being outdoors in nature and hiking, live sports and meeting new people is the BEST! I also have a huge passion for music. Music has gotten me through some of the toughest most challenging times and I LOVE live music :)
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to get to know me here!
I look forward to connecting with you, and helping your child develop the essential mental tools to support them on their life adventures, and to become their own best friend and superhero!!
Thank you,
Coach Chanty
